Christopher Mardian — Updating Salesforce Owners + Backups

Using Claude to bulk-update Salesforce Account/Lead owners and snapshot a backup of every change. (Backstory: instead of formatting files and pulling a bunch of ID reports to upload the data himself, he had Claude do the whole thing.)

How this works
  1. Watch the loom below (2x speed is fine).
  2. Comment at the bottom of this page — what landed, what you'd steal, what you'd do differently.
  3. If this is the use case you're trying this week, record your own loom of it and drop it in the channel.
Facilitator note

A clean, high-frequency win. On Mistral, after a territory/rep reshuffle, Christopher needed every lead on a set of accounts reassigned to match the new account owner — 61 unconverted leads across three reps. Instead of Data Loader + Salesforce Inspector + joining reports to get the IDs, he handed Claude a Google Sheet of account IDs → owner IDs and let it do the matching, skip the already-converted leads, and run the bulk update. Two things to highlight: (1) the Google service-account connection — share a sheet with Claude's service-account email as an editor and it can read/write directly (a real unlock worth setting up); and (2) the before/after backup he had Claude write back to a second tab (BeforeOwnerId → AfterOwnerId) — a built-in audit trail so a bulk owner change is reversible and documented, with zero manual report-pulling.
