Watch for the next AI-generated end-of-week recap that comes through on a Friday afternoon. Before you copy-paste it into the customer Slack channel, review it: check the hours for accuracy, confirm that everything listed under completed this week actually shipped, and make sure next week's focus reflects what you want to commit to in the following sprint.
What the Recap Does
The end-of-week recap is a weekly message sent to each customer on Friday that wraps up the week. It covers three things: where hours landed, what was completed this week, and what the team is focused on next week.
Think of it as a teaser for next Monday's sprint meeting. The customer gets a clear report on execution against what was committed in the sprint, plus an early look at what is coming. It is a chance to take a victory lap on delivery and keep the customer engaged heading into the weekend.
How the AI Generates It
LeanScale uses an OpenClaw AI agent — specifically Ben — to generate these recaps automatically. The AI pulls from the Teamwork board: completed this week comes from tasks in the LeanScale Review and Delivered stages dated for the current week. Next week's focus comes from anything in Grooming, On Deck, or In Progress with a due date extending into the following week.
The recap currently runs on Friday afternoons around 2:30pm. It drops into Slack for each client, ready for the architect to review and send.
The Architect's Role
The AI writes the recap, but the architect is the human in the loop. Before you copy-paste it into the customer's Slack channel, check a few things.
First, verify the hours are accurate. Second, make sure the completed items actually reflect what was delivered — not just what moved stages. Third, look at next week's focus and confirm those are items you want to commit to. If you did your sprint jam on Thursday and cleaned up the board, this should already be in good shape.
The goal is to get these out somewhere between 1pm and 3pm on Friday — early enough that customers see it before they check out for the weekend.
A Brief History
LeanScale used to send both a written recap and a Loom video walking through the Teamwork board. The video added color and context, but customer engagement on Friday afternoon videos was low. The team decided to make the process more efficient by moving to AI-generated written recaps only.
The written format gets read. The videos did not. That trade-off made the switch a clear win.
Monthly Video Recaps
While weekly videos went away, Cam sees value in bringing back a monthly video recap — at least once a month. The idea is to stitch together Loom clips from throughout the month, demo things that were built, and highlight where projects stand.
This would be more of a sizzle reel than a status update. It gives customers something engaging to look at and gives the team a chance to be proud of the work and really showcase what was delivered over the course of the month.
