1. OpenClaw Intro
Action Step
Complete this before moving on.
Open Slack and find your OpenClaw agent in your DMs. Send it a simple message like "Hello" and confirm you get a response back.
Training Guide
You've spent the last two sections mastering Claude Code. Now you're about to meet the other half of your AI toolkit.
The setup: Claude Code is your power tool for deep work at your desk. OpenClaw is your AI that lives in Slack — always on, always available, no VS Code required.
Same engine, different car — OpenClaw wraps the same Claude model you've been using. It's not a different AI. It's a different interface to the same AI.
What OpenClaw is NOT:
- Not made by Anthropic — it's an open-source project that wraps the Claude API
- Not a replacement for Claude Code — they serve different purposes
- Not a dumbed-down version — it's equally powerful, just "headless" (you can't see the file explorer, the diffs, or the token counter)
Why LeanScale uses it:
- Every team member gets their own dedicated AI agent on a server
- Your agent has a name, a personality, and it remembers you across conversations
- You can message it from Slack on your phone — no laptop needed
- It can do things while you sleep (cron jobs — we'll get to that)
Section roadmap: Meet your agent, understand how it works under the hood, customize it, build skills for it, connect it to your tools, and set up automated tasks.

Why do you think LeanScale gives every team member their own dedicated AI agent instead of sharing one?
